Progress update!


It's almost been a full month since the initial release and I figured I'd let y'all know how the first major update to the game is coming along. The playtesters who so kindly volunteered to help me locate bugs have reported back with a laundry list of problems and features they want addressed, and I've been hard at work trying to meet their expectations. (If you're one of those playtesters, thank you thank you thank youuuu!!!) There is no official deadline for the next update to be released, but I'm positive it won't be more than a couple weeks. 

As was expected, the game is outright broken in a number of places. Some changes will include:

-"Stats" will henceforth be referred to as "Potentials" to remove the baggage the old term brings along. Players had a difficult time viewing their UPC as anything other than a representation of their character's physical capabilities, which goes against the spirit of the game. 
-Expansion of Human Actions to lean heavier on the "Self Insert OC" aspect. Any action the Player can honestly say they've accomplished IRL will net their Human 1 free Success on that action. 
-A sliding scale of results for multiple Successes. Previously, having multiple dice for Monsters Stage 2 and up was to increase the chances of beating Contested Rolls. Now each additional Success on a single action allows the Player to choose a bonus that will be applied to the result. a solid 4 Successes lets the Player declare 1 statement to be true. Literally anything. No, I have no qualms about putting this loaded gun on the table and looking away, why do you ask? 
-Humans no longer have HP. The implication of kids participating in Combat was an oversight I should have caught earlier. Now the Human's turn in combat is exclusively for actions such as using Items and Buffs, while the Monster's is for direct violence. However, both a Human and Monster are considered out of the fight should the Monster drop to 0 HP.
-The XP system has been overhauled. If you're aware of Emergent Experience by Valory, I've basically hacked that to directly reflect the mechanics of this game and thus give players a motivating framework. 

Other systems such as the overhauled status effect, inventory, and timekeeping systems may not make it out into the next update, but are in progress. They will most likely appear in the update after next. I definately do intend to continue developing this game even once I've ironed out all the bugs.
